Privacy Policy

Waendr is operated by Yogesh Kumar. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Data We Collect
Information you provide:
- Account information (name, email, profile photo)
- Profile preferences (travel interests, dietary preferences)
- Travel documents (optional): passport nationality, residence country, active visas — used for visa guidance
- Trip details: destinations, dates, budget, travel style
- Content you create: posts, photos, comments, trip summaries
- Messages sent to the AI assistant
- Payment information (processed by Stripe — we never store card numbers)
Information collected automatically:
- How you use the app (pages visited, features used)
- Device information (browser type, screen size)
- Approximate location based on IP address
- Login and session information
2. How We Use Your Data
- To provide the service: generate trips, power the chat assistant, display your feed, process payments
- To personalize your experience: travel recommendations based on your preferences and interests
- To improve the product: understand how features are used and where users experience friction
- To ensure safety: moderate reported content, prevent abuse
- To communicate: transactional emails about your account and subscription
3. AI Processing
When you use AI-powered features, relevant context from your request is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) for processing. This may include travel preferences, messages, and trip details.
Your email, photos, payment information, and social connections are never sent to AI providers.
Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, your data is not used to train AI models.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with service providers necessary to operate Waendr:
- Anthropic — AI processing (travel recommendations, chat)
- Stripe — payment processing
- Amazon Web Services — hosting and infrastructure
- Google Maps — map display
- Authentication and analytics providers
Each provider processes data under their own privacy policies and standard data processing terms.
5. Data Retention
- Account data: retained until you delete your account
- Posts and content: retained until you delete them
- Chat session history is held only in our cache and automatically deleted after 24 hours.
- When you ask the assistant about specific places, we retain the place name, your question text (up to 500 characters), and analytics metadata (timestamps, ask counts, and interaction context) so we can surface trending places across the community. This is deleted when you delete your account.
- Analytics data: retained for 12 months
- Payment records: retained as required by law
When you delete your account, all associated data is removed within 30 days.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access a copy of your personal data
- Correct inaccurate information via your profile settings
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Object to data processing for non-essential purposes
- Export your data (feature planned)
For users in Mexico: You may exercise your ARCO rights (Access, Rectification, Cancellation, Opposition) under the Ley Federal de Protección de Datos Personales en Posesión de los Particulares. Send requests to privacy@waendr.com with your name and email associated with your account.
7. Regional Availability
Waendr is not currently available in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland.
8. Children
Waendr is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
9. International Transfers
Your data is processed on servers in the United States (AWS). By using Waendr, you consent to this transfer.
10. Security
We use encryption in transit and at rest, token-based authentication, and access controls. No system is 100% secure. If we discover a breach affecting your data, we will notify you within 72 hours.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification.
